National Talent Search Examination Everything about NTSE Exam
The National Talent Search Examination, NTSE, is a scholarship exam conducted for Class 10 students in order to recognize talented students with a high intellectual level. The selected students are then rewarded through various scholarships.
The exam is conducted in two phases, wherein phase 1 happens at the state level while phase 2 happens at the national level. The NTSE exam is managed and conducted by NCERT.
States are now releasing notifications related to NTSE and the latest to do so is the state of Kerala. SCERT, Kerala has released the application for NTSE Stage 1, 2020-2021. Students who want to take part in the exam can submit the registration form online on the official website, scert.kerala.gov.in
Stage 1 NTSE 2020- 2021 in Kerala is scheduled to be conducted on December 13, 2020, while Stage 2 will happen on June 13, 2021. NTSE Stage 1 qualifying students will be eligible to appear in NTSE stage 2.
NTSE Scholarships
Students clearing NTSE stage-2 exam, will get scholarships by NCERT, which include the following:
- Scholarship of Rs. 1250/- per month in class 11th and 12th.
- Scholarship pf Rs 2000/- per month in Graduation and Post-Graduation, Rs. 2000/- per month will be
- Scholarship for Ph.D. students as per UGC Norms.
Kerala NTSE Eligibility
Students studying in class X in the academic year 2020-2021 in any of the government schools of Kerala/ Government aided/recognized/Kendriya Vidyalaya/Navodaya Vidyalaya in Kerala will be eligible for NTSE stage 1.
Moreover, students who are registered under the Open Distance Learning (ODL) are also eligible for the scholarship but the applicant must be below the age of 18 and should be appearing in the Class X exam for the first time.
Students scoring a minimum of 55% marks (50% for SC/ST students) in all non-language subjects in the last exam of class IX of 2019-20 will be admitted for the examination.
Kerala NTSE Exam Pattern
The State Level NTSE exam will have two test papers namely –
- MAT (Mental Ability Test) &
- SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test)
